Last week I raced impending rain clouds to complete a fashion photo shoot with the lovely model, Laura. Nestled in between the blooming flowers of a perennial garden, Laura posed for the camera, checked the most recent images, and quickly adjusted her pose. Working with another should be a collaboration, and I appreciate a model who can not only take instruction but turn around and offer more–an improvement, or creative idea–as she did in the photo above.
The outfit being modeled in these photos, a peach crop-top paired with a hot-pink skirt, was a vivid standout among the greenery of the garden. Despite the brilliant color combinations, I also wanted to capture at least one photo as a sensitive black-and-white portrait study and emphasize the lighting rather than the colors. See below, I think it turned out well and is a great example of the connection between camera and subject.
